Selecting the right frame for your face and your prescription
Everyone's face is different in size and shape. It's important to get the proper size frame for your face, but where do you start among all those frames? Here are some guidelines to help you make the best selection.
Eyebrow Line
The top of your frame should follow your eyebrow as closely as possible.
Face Width
Measuring the width of your face will help you find the right size frame.
Pupil Alignment
Each pupil should be fairly well centered in the lenses.
Frame Position
Properly fitting frames should not move around on your face along with your facial expressions. They should also feel as comfortable as possible and not pinch.
Frame Shape
We all know that certain frames look wonderful on us, while some simply do not; which styles are flattering depends on the shape of our face. You should also pay attention to your prescription in selecting the proper frame.
If you have a prescription with strong vision correction for far vision (nearsighted vision) try a smaller frame with a thick profile and rounded edges. The glasses will be lighter and appear thinner. They will also hold the lenses securely.
If you have a prescription with strong vision correction for near vision (farsighted vision), try smaller and sturdier frames. As above, the glasses will be lighter.
If you have a prescription for multiple prescriptions (bi/trifocals), the frames you choose will need enough depth below the pupil to hold the lens - you don't want tiny frames or your corrected field of vision will be severely limited.
